NOTICE OF INTENT OF THE DE SOTO CITY COUNCIL TO APPOINT COUNCIL MEMBER PURSUANT TO IOWA CODE SECTION 372.13(2)

TO ALL CITIZENS AND PARTIES IN INTEREST WHO ARE ENTITLED TO NOTICE OF THE DE SOTO CITY COUNCIL’S INTENT TO APPOINT A PERSON TO FILL A VACANT COUNCIL OFFICE AT ITS REGULAR MEETING TO BE HELD ON June 15, 2021 AT 7:00 P.M.

You are hereby notified that the City Council of De Soto, Iowa, intends to fill by appointment the vacancy created by the resignation of Terri Golightly, Council Member.

In the event the electors of De Soto do not file a petition with the city clerk requesting a special election to fill the vacancy, the City Council intends to appoint an individual as council member.  Upon the appointment of the new council member, the appointed member shall serve for the period until the next pending city election.

You are further notified that the electors of the City of De Soto have the right to file a petition requiring that the vacancy be filled by special election, by the filing of a petition in accordance with Iowa Code §372.13(2)(a) within fourteen (14) days after the publication of this notice or within fourteen (14) days after the appointment is made by the City Council.
