The De Soto Fire & Rescue Department is dedicated to providing care during the event of a fire or medical emergency. Our mission is to minimize the loss of life & property threatened by the hazards of fire, medical, & other emergencies. We accomplish this mission daily by providing the highest quality fire protection, emergency medical care and community education possible. <\/mark>

De Soto provides Fire and EMS protection for an area of approximately 20 square miles. We respond to 200+ calls per year with 2 engines, 2 brush trucks, 1 water tender and 1 light rescue vehicle.<\/mark> Medical calls are the most frequent calls we receive, and we assist up until Dallas County EMS takes over and transports.<\/mark><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are always looking for local volunteers that wish to give back to their community. We have team meetings the first Tuesday of every month, and often have weekly training events once a week in the evening to keep our skills up to date. Training and gear is provided at no cost to you<\/mark>, and a quarterly stipend is offered for volunteers that attend calls while meeting the requirements set forth by our department. For more information, feel free to reach out to our Fire Chief, or attend one of our monthly meetings!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/span><\/strong>All burns should to be called into Dallas County Dispatch at 515-993-4567<\/a> both at the beginning and at the end of a burn session. This also includes small scale “Backyard” fire pits.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n
